Girl. We spend 90K hours at work over the course of our lifetimes, which is a third of our lives.

If you are not careful, people will have you believing in fairness, meritocracy and change from the inside. The reality is that Black women make 70 cents for every dollar that a straight White man makes. White women are the primary benefactors of Affirmative Action. Black women are often expected to do the most with the less at work, and smile and tap dance about it. Even though we have the most college loans and life crippling school debt.

Between racism, sexism and homophobia at work, the workplace is traumatizing. In this journal I leverage a decade of experience as a college lecturer, public intellectual and Black feminist to give you practice tips and strategist for healing from work trauma.

I went from East Oakland, to Lick Wilmerding, to the New School to Brooklyn Law School. I know about making maps that help Black girls avoid and navigate trauma.
